We were lucky enough to attend the Master Builders Association (MBA) 2023 awards to help celebrate these masters, including David Campbell of David Campbell Building (DCB). We spoke to David about his company, his recent Master Builder Association national award and Edcon Steel’s structural steel supply.

Meet the builder: David Campbell

If you have spent much time in the Northern Beaches of Sydney, you have most likely passed a DCB home. Known for their exceptional quality and durability, these architecturally designed residential buildings, extensions, renovations and interiors are structurally brilliant and aesthetically stunning.

A carpenter by trade, David has spent the past 25 years building his multi-award-winning company and contributing extensively to the building industry as a whole. He has pioneered an innovative site management software that is now used in thousands of worksites worldwide. David is also an active member and former President of the MBA Manly division and a member of the Housing Industry of Australia (HIA).

David has also been a member of the prestigious US National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) since 2013 and is the only Australian representative in its Craftsmen Builder 20 Club. Made up of some of the finest builders from around the United States, the Builder 20 Club meets twice yearly and offers an opportunity for consultation on all DCB projects.

Multi-award-winning craftsmanship

DCB has a history of exceptional work, which the Master Builders Association has recognised many times over the years.

In the most recent MBA New South Wales awards, DCB was a finalist in five categories, including Master Builder of the Year, and the winner for both House Alterations and Additions ($2.4 million – $2.6 million) and House Restorations and Additions ($1.6 million – $2 million)

David’s work was again recognised at the 2023 MBA National Excellence in Building & Construction Awards, where DCB was named the Renovations/Extensions Award winner for projects over $2 million.

Situated in the beautiful suburb of Mosman, this project is a magnificent example of architectural brilliance, exceptional construction, and the highest quality materials.

Edcon Steel provided all structural steel for this project and supplied and installed all of the curved steel railings on the property’s several balconies.

“This project was during COVID, and we managed to complete the project in the time frame,” David explains.

“It was a great project to work on because we had front and rear access, the clients were awesome, the architects were awesome, and the suppliers were awesome. So, what more could you want?”
