Buy Tubular Steel Online
Custom-cut to Order Delivery or Click & Collect
At Edcon Steel, we supply a full range of tubular sections in rectangular (RHS), square (SHS) and round (CHS) profiles. Available in mild steel, galvanised steel, stainless steel and aluminium, they’re valued for strength, versatility and a clean, modern finish.
Our stock includes ERW welded steel, aluminium alloy 6060 T5, and stainless steel grades 304 and 316, suitable for everything from general fabrication to architectural and marine projects. All tubes can be cut to your exact length and delivered anywhere in Australia.
Tubular steel sections offer an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, resist bending, and provide smooth surfaces that are safe, weldable, and easy to connect. RHS/SHS simplify fabrication with flat sides. Aluminium tubes are lightweight and rust-free, while stainless steel ensures a long-lasting finish in harsh conditions.

Work Smarter with Edcon Steel
Plan Your Lengths: Tubes come in standard 6 m lengths. Designing with this in mind reduces offcuts and saves money. Our team can help you plan cuts for maximum value.
Choose the Right Gauge: Use thicker walls (3–5 mm) for structural or welded projects. Lighter walls (1.6–2 mm) suit non-structural or weight-sensitive builds but need more care when welding.
Guard Against Rust: Pick galvanised or stainless steel for outdoor or damp environments. Cap ends or drill drain holes to avoid trapped moisture. Hot-dip galvanising offers complete protection inside and out for coastal or marine jobs.
Common Uses and Sectors: Tubular Steel
Tubular sections are among the most versatile products in steel and metal fabrication. From large-scale construction to weekend DIY, they’re trusted by builders, engineers, farmers, tradies and home handymen for their strength, clean look and ease of use.
In construction, RHS and SHS provide reliable framing for carports, sheds, awnings and even commercial buildings, while CHS is often used for posts and scaffolding. For fencing and railings, galvanised tubes are the go-to choice for posts, gates and balustrades.
In the automotive and marine sector, tubes form the backbone of vehicle chassis, trailers, bull bars, boat frames and caravans – with aluminium chosen for its lightweight, rust-free properties. For furniture and DIY projects, tubular steel and aluminium are staples in shelving, benches, bed frames, greenhouses and even gym or playground equipment.

Any tips for working with tubular steel?
Design around 6 m lengths to reduce waste. Choose thicker walls (3–5 mm) for load-bearing or welded jobs, lighter gauges for DIY or portable projects. Use galvanised or stainless steel outdoors to prevent rust. Cap or drain tubes to stop moisture build-up. Always wear PPE, de-burr cut ends and handle with care. For welding galvanised tube, grind off zinc in the weld area and re-coat after. Some tube sizes also telescope neatly inside others for adjustable designs.
