2023: Year in review

What a year it has been! While the steel industry has started stabilising after a chaotic few years, it has not been without its challenges. But it has also been a year of enormous success for Edcon Steel and so many in our community.

To celebrate the year that was, we decided to share some of our favourite stories from the past 12 months with our 2023 Year in Review.

Supporting local businesses

One of the best parts of our work is partnering with local businesses to supply their steel and metal needs. Developing and maintaining quality relationships is the cornerstone of Edcon Steel’s business and the reason why we have been going strong for nearly 50 years.

Black Goods Fabrication

Eddy Goodwin, owner of Black Goods Fabrication, has built a reputation for delivering reliable and efficient on-site and custom fabrication services for construction projects in the Sydney region.

As a regular customer of Edcon Steel, Eddy has built a solid partnership with our team, who often custom-cut and deliver steel on-site.

John White of Windmill Engineering has been a customer of Edcon Steel for more than 20 years.

Based in Central West NSW, Windmill Engineering has been involved in the design, installation, repair and maintenance of water-pumping windmills for decades, helping rural customers access the cheapest, cleanest and most efficient power source available – wind.

Stories from our community

Nurragingy Miniature Railway

In the time since it opened, the Nurragingy Miniature Railway has been a community space for families and people living with disability to enjoy a train ride and picnic in Nurragingy Reserve.

We spoke to Roger Jones, a foundation member of North Western Model Engineers Inc., about Blacktown’s beloved miniature railway.

Set amongst a stunning pecan orchard in the NSW Central Coast hinterland sits Artisan Estate, the region’s newest ‘maker’ destination.

We spoke to Chris and Madeline, the brains behind Artisan Estate, about their blacksmithing courses, which allow those new to the ancient practice to enjoy the experience of using old-world techniques and forging with fire.
