These general purpose taps are ideal for creating new threads in a wide variety of materials. Goliath HSS taps provide a high hardness to toughness ratio, compressive and tensile strength, good abrasion resistance and resistance to micro-chipping, ensuring a long tool life. Manufactured from HSS this general purpose tap is designed for use in medium tensile materials and is for hand or general machine use. HSS Button Dies (also known as Adjustable Dies) are designed for cutting external threads. They are used for threading rods, bolts, and studs, either by hand using a die stock, or by machine using a floating die holder. They also can be used to cut smaller or larger, than factory setting, by utilising the adjusting screws in the die holder. Dies are manufactured with a thread chamfer to aid starting. M2-HSS material provides increased wear resistance and superior thread accuracy.
