At Edcon Steel, we stock brass square bar by the metre. Brass square bar is a versatile metal stock with a bright golden finish, prized for both strength and decorative appeal. Made from free-machining brass (alloy C385), it offers excellent machinability and good corrosion resistance.

Its uniform square cross-section makes it easy to align and fasten in frames or fixtures. Brass won’t spark on impact, so it’s often used for door hardware, fittings and trim where safety or aesthetic is important

Our cut to size service means you only pay for what you’ll use, with no unnecessary offcuts. Whether you’re tackling a large construction job or a small home project, our brass range provides a durable, cost-effective solution.

With five convenient NSW locations in Brookvale, Revesby, Blacktown, Bathurst, and Orange, and Australia-wide delivery, Edcon Steel makes it easy for builders, tradies and DIY customers to get quality brass for any job.

Work Smarter with Edcon Steel

Cutting and machining: Use sharp, suitable cutting tools designed for non-ferrous metals to achieve clean, accurate cuts in the brass. Or, save time by requesting cut-to-length pieces from Edcon Steel.

Corrosion protection: Brass naturally resists corrosion, but polishing or sealing can help maintain its finish in high-traffic or coastal environments.

Storage and handling: Store brass square bar in a dry area to minimise surface tarnish before installation.

Polishing: If a polished look is required, allow extra length for trimming and finishing after fabrication.

Check with a Professional: Our advice is general in nature. Always confirm your specific steel sizes, load-bearing requirements and compliance needs with a qualified engineer or builder, especially for structural applications. This ensures your project is safe and meets all regulations before you build.

Common Uses and Sectors: Brass Square Bar

Brass square bar is widely used across construction, fabrication and manufacturing. In building and architecture, it’s chosen for door handles, hinges, handrails, balustrades and decorative trim, providing a distinctive gold-like finish. It’s also common in plumbing and electrical systems, like valves, taps, connectors and switchgear, because of its conductivity and corrosion resistance.

In mechanical engineering and manufacturing, brass bars serve as bearings, gears, mounting brackets and other machined components, as its wear resistance and machinability improve part reliability
