Ordering steel online
Edcon Steel is proud to be home to Australia’s most comprehensive range of online steel and metal products. Ordering steel and metal products online has never been easier – we cut to size, and if you don’t wish to collect, we can deliver your order right to your door.
With over 50 years in steel and metal supply, we have you covered. If you’re new to ordering Edcon Steel products online, we’ve put together this ‘how to’ guide to make the process as easy as possible.
1. Register
The first step is to register an account with Edcon Steel so that you can order online, keep track of all your orders and check your products.
It is important that you use Chrome, Firefox or another compatible browser (Internet Explorer is not supported).
You will need to follow all of the steps of the registration process, including verifying your email address before you can start ordering.
2. Select products
As Australia’s most comprehensive online steel and metal superstore, there are thousands of steel, metal, livestock and rural products, plus tools and gear to choose from.
To find the right products for you, you can either navigate through the menu options or use the search function to find a specific product.
If you require custom lengths, simply select the ‘custom (cut to size)’ option and enter your required length, in millimetres.
To increase the quantity of your product, simply use the arrows to increase or decrease the quantity, or manually enter the amount.
Don’t forget to click ‘add to cart’ for each product.
3. Check out
When you have selected all of your required products, click on the shopping cart icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen to review your order.
Please check all details of the order, including unit price, quantity, length and any other information.
For your first order, before you can proceed to quote or payment, you will need to enter your billing address and shipping address in order to calculate your shipping charges.
For future orders, you will just need to review your shipping address if necessary.
If you have any notes for delivery or questions for the quote, simply enter them in the comments section.
When ready, select ‘send quote’ for us to email a quote to you, or ‘proceed to payment’ to confirm and pay for your order.
We offer a variety of payment methods to suit the needs of our customers, including cash (paid in-store), EFTPOS, Visa, MasterCard and direct bank transfer. If paying cash or making a direct bank transfer, we cannot accept or proceed with the order until we are in receipt of cleared funds.
4. Receive your product
If you would prefer to pick up your order from one of our steel stores, we encourage you to do so. However, it is essential that your vehicle is appropriate for the size and type of material. Please review our safe loading guide prior to collecting your order.
Alternatively, Edcon Steel offers multiple options for delivery, depending on the size of the products and/or order, and the delivery location.
Edcon crane equipped trucks are available for delivery in the Sydney metropolitan area, Bathurst and Orange.
We use Australia Post for orders up to 22kg and 1000mm (available Australia wide), or courier for orders (up to 1800mm) for both Sydney metropolitan and interstate deliveries. While tracking is available for courier services, we can only provide the Auspost tracking number (unless you request and pay for express post).
Where larger deliveries are required to be sent to rural or interstate areas, we use freight services. Tracking is only available through certain freight companies, so if tracking is essential, please talk to a customer service representative before ordering.
When ordering for delivery interstate, it is advantageous to have any steel pieces cut as short as possible, as length surcharges may apply.
Delivery times will vary for each order and can be impacted by a number of factors, including the amount of cutting services required, stock availability and quantity. Your Edcon Steel salesperson will be able to provide more assistance at the time of order placement.
