Processing & Fabrication

Structural steel processing. Precision cuts. Fabrication-ready components.

At Edcon Steel, structural steel processing is carried out in-house with complete control over accuracy, scheduling, and output. We process steel components from straight cuts to intricate shapes using advanced CNC saws, plasma cutters, and drilling equipment — all aligned to your structural drawings.

Whether fabricating beams, cleats, channels, plates, or complex assemblies, our processing workflow ensures your steel arrives ready for welding, coating, or site installation — labelled, dimensioned, and cut to spec.

Why Choose Edcon for Processing & Fabrication

Structural steel processing at Edcon isn’t just about cutting steel — it’s about delivering fabrication-ready results that meet specification, tight fabrication tolerances, and site sequence. We process every part to ensure it fits the next stage without modification, helping reduce installation issues and rework on site. Every part we process is shaped, drilled, and labelled to suit your next stage, whether welding, transport, or installation.

Our in-house machinery is maintained for precision and output consistency. From large-volume production to smaller, custom jobs, we ensure each processed component supports buildability, compliance, and reduced on-site rework.

Backed by Edcon’s integrated drafting and estimating teams, our processing department works with your drawings to deliver precisely what’s needed.

Our Steel Processing & Fabrication Workflow

1.Review Structural Drawings

We review your plans, take-offs, or DXF/CAD files to confirm steel grades, measurements, hole positions, and other critical requirements. If dimensions, materials or cutting instructions are missing or unclear, we’ll raise them early to prevent bottlenecks.

2. Prepare for Processing

Our technicians program cut paths, hole placements, and part quantities directly into our CNC saws, drill lines, or plasma cutters. We align processing logic with your installation sequence, so components land on-site in the order they’re needed.

“We process steel, and fabricate steel with the whole experience & journey in mind. Every cut, hole, and label is thought through with usability in mind, so it’s easier to find, fit, and install on site.”

3. Cut, Drill & Mark Components

Steel is processed in-house using automated equipment for consistent accuracy. We cut beams, brackets, cleats, plates, and more — drill holes, slots or notches as required, and clearly mark every item by reference or section.

4. Check, Clean & Stack for Next Stage

All components are quality-checked, lightly deburred, and neatly stacked or palletised for internal transfer (welding, coating) or site delivery. We help ensure easy handling and minimal delays at installation. Processed parts are visually checked, cleaned, and organised for the next stage — whether in-house welding, coating, or delivery to site.

“Every piece we process passes through one team, under one roof — cut, checked, and sequenced for fabrication. It’s control that saves time and fits right first go.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of steel can Edcon process in-house?

We process beams, cleats, channels, brackets, plates and more — cut, drilled, and labelled for fabrication or site-ready use.

Can Edcon work from digital files like DXF or CAD?

Yes. We use your supplied digital files or plans to guide CNC processing — including hole placement, shape profiles and cut sequences.

Are parts checked before fabrication or delivery?

Every item is visually inspected, lightly cleaned, and stacked or palletised ready for the next phase — whether that’s welding, coating, or installation.

How does Edcon ensure estimating accuracy?

We quote directly from your drawings and cross-check quantities, materials, and constructability. If anything’s unclear or missing, we’ll raise it early before fabrication begins.
