Need some inspiration?

If you’re looking for inspiration for your next project, have a read of some of our previous competition entries. We’re sure you’ll be impressed with their ingenuity and creativity.

Andrew Carstens, our inaugural competition winner, used Edcon Steel’s aluminium products to build a beautiful twin-cylinder engine. With no plans or models to work from, Andrew built the engine completely from memory… and the results are incredible.

Then there’s our youngest competition entrant, 13-year-old Finn, who built an antenna rotator for his satellite ground station using aluminium round tube. Read more about his exciting project.

Or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, you can read about aerial acrobat Emily, who built a mobile acrobatic stage backdrop using aluminium square box (SHS). The first-time Edcon Steel customer, and first-time welder, spoke to us about her impressive project.

And finally, our most recent winner, Philip Sticklen, fabricated solid brass wash sinks for the new Phoenix Gallery in Chippendale, NSW. The Sydney-based designer and maker has been producing specialty pieces from his own atelier-style practice, Bespoke House, for more than 35 years. Self-trained, Philip creates bespoke furniture and architectural fittings, and now specialises in fabrication of brass products.
